School Lunch

The British School of Bucharest Lunch

We provide a nutritious lunch service in-house. We aim to offer a high-quality complete meal, that is appealing and healthy, made from fresh ingredients and cooked on our premises.

Our approach to our school lunch service is 'healthy eating', and we design our menu to meet the principles of a balanced diet.

Additionally, all pupils are provided with a nutritious snack during the morning break, at no extra charge.

Pre-Nursery, Nursery and Reception children are provided with lunch at no extra charge.

Pre-Nursery, Nursery and Reception, Year 1 & 2 children receive the main menu adapted for young children.

Alternatively, a nutritious lunch can be sent from home.

Parents can rest assured that the food provided through our school lunch service meets the highest standards. Our meals are intended to help children develop healthy eating habits and ensure that they get the energy and nutrition they need to carry them through the whole school day. School lunch is an additional service that is provided by the school for supplementary costs.

Fresh and tasty ingredients

Most ingredients used in our kitchen, such as meat, fish, dairy products, fruit and vegetables, are purchased directly from local authorised manufacturers or processors, ensuring that we always provide fresh and non-preserved products. We cook all the dishes from start to finish in our kitchen, and we don't use pre-cooked, canned goods or food additives (colourings, sweeteners, flavour enhancers). All the desserts are prepared in-house, following classic recipes, without using pre-mixes and sweeteners, and using only sugar, honey, agave and maple syrup. For chocolate desserts, we use only dark chocolate.

COVID - 19 Safety Information

We will be implementing staggered dining so that there will never be a large number of students eating at once. Inside the dining hall, tables and chairs have been laid out to meet the requirements of social distancing. All catering staff wear masks, shields and gloves. Cutlery and food are individually wrapped, and the staff serves all the food, cutlery and water – nowhere is it possible for diners to help themselves.
