A New Chapter for Project Zephyr at Bett 2022

Project Zephyr, an innovative programme first developed at the British School of Bucharest, will be exhibited by Foamblock in London between 23rd and 25th March at Bett 2022, the world’s largest education technology show. Over three days, thousands of visitors will be able to meet with EdTech providers, join CPD content sessions and network and interact with educational projects from all over the world.

Project Zephyr – The Innovative Programme Created by Foamblock at BSB

Project Zephyr takes students aged 12+ on a learning journey where they have the opportunity to delve deep into STEAM while also learning about business, law, marketing, teamwork, leadership and more.

Students receive a complete kit for building an electric vehicle from scratch, including the customised algorithm and all the hardware components and materials needed for learning. The project has a practical and social component. The practical stage allows students to get hands-on experience by producing a car chassis, body and drivetrain. The car’s body is manufactured using clay sculpting techniques as well as composite technology (fibreglass and carbon fibre) and various other industry methods. The social component implies students and their supervisors analyse the discoveries they made during the practical stage and made decisions as a team.

The entire experience is student-led and this approach allows students to develop social skills as well as practical skills such as model making, scale prototyping and sculpture to gather vital competencies used in a number of high-end industries today.

At the British School of Bucharest (BSB), Project Zephyr is run within the School’s Innovation Hub – a space where students both use the technologies developed during the project and further develop additional technologies based on their needs and interests in other curriculum courses.

Foamblock is a company focused on raising the level of education available to young people by challenging them to be curious. It provides institutions with their custom-designed mapping algorithm to aid students in discovering their individual path after school.

The Arctic Challenge – an unforgettable experience

During Bett 2022, Foamblock, together with BSB, will announce the Arctic Challenge – a sustainable technology fair and unforgettable experience where student-built electric vehicles will compete on an F1 track carved on a frozen lake.

The Arctic Challenge is created with the aim of inspiring young people as well as teaching them about sustainable innovations.

You can find more details about the unique experience on the event’s official website.

Bett 2022 – the world’s largest EdTech show

Between 23rd and 25th March, educators from across the globe have the opportunity to network and participate in a one-of-a-kind showcase of education solution providers. Bett is the world’s largest education technology show. Over three days, 400+ leading EdTech Solution Providers, 90+ CPD content sessions, 300+ inspiring speakers participate in meetings, attend exclusive networking and have the opportunity to interact with educational projects from all over the world.

Bett is back in London to reunite the global education community in-person. As the education community looks beyond the crisis response, the overarching theme of Bett 2022 is: create the future.

Participating as a speaker in a special expert panel on the 24th March, Mr. Grant Gillies, Headmaster at BSB, will discuss current trends impacting the European EdTech landscape. Grant has over 28 years in education, the majority of which has been in senior leadership positions.

Project Zephyr represented by Foamblock founder Tudor Atanasiu will be exhibited in this edition at stand SF23. The team aims to build on the growing momentum behind Project Zephyr and seeks to broaden the learning spectrum by inviting other schools to work collaboratively on an exceptional global project that will have its official announcement at Bett 2022.
