      ICT

As ICT underpins today's modern lifestyle it is essential that all students gain the confidence and ability, that they need in this subject, to prepare them for the challenge of a rapidly developing and changing technological world.

At BSB this is achieved in both the Primary and Secondary School by the daily use of the well-equipped ICT suites, which have laptops and Chromebooks for cross-curricular use, by the use of the interactive whiteboards, iPads and a wealth of educational software and internet based learning, which is centrally controlled to filter out inappropriate websites.

All students are taught ICT & Computing as a discreet lesson as well as its cross-curricular use, in mixed ability groups where an emphasis is placed on differentiated individualised learning opportunities.

They are, where appropriate, given access to a range of exciting software ranging from Microsoft Office, and industry standard software such as Adobe Dreamweaver and Flash to Fireworks as well as learning appropriate coding languages.

BSB is leading the way with innovation in schools by equipping every secondary student with their own iPad to use within and outside of school. The focus of the iPad is to provide tools and resources to the 21st Century Learner. Excellence in education requires that technology is seamlessly integrated throughout the educational program. Increasing access to technology is essential for the future, and one of the learning tools of these 21stCentury students is tablet technology. The individual use of iPads is a way to empower students to maximize their full potential and to prepare them for college and the workplace.

Learning results from continuous dynamic interaction among students, educators, parents and the extended community. Technology immersion does not diminish the vital role of the teacher. To the contrary, it transforms the teacher from a director of learning to a facilitator of learning. Effective teaching and learning with iPads integrates technology into the curriculum anytime, anyplace.

In addition to the ICT suites, the students now have access to a brand new Mac suite. Situated conveniently next to the Secondary Library, the room is available for all students whether as a quiet study room or for work on a wide variety of software applications. The room is also used for Co-Curricular Activities such as Movie Making and Film Club.
