School Accreditations & External Validation
We are committed to providing the highest standards of education within a British school system. Parents can be confident that our many accreditations and external validations are in support of this.
The British School of Bucharest is recognised as a British School Overseas (BSO) via the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) and is accredited by the Romanian Agency for Quality Assurance in Education (ARACIP).
Our approach to teaching the National Curriculum for England and our internal processes of continual evaluation and improvement is underpinned through regular inspections by ISI. Our latest ISI report rated the British School of Bucharest as ‘excellent’ for the quality of pupils’ learning and achievements and the quality of pupils’ personal development. This rating is at the top of the scale.
We are also members of the Council of British International Schools (COBIS), the British Romanian Chamber of Commerce (BRCC) and the American Chamber of Commerce in Romania (AmCham). Through these important accreditations, our children enjoy many opportunities for inter-school competitions that promote self-development and extended learning.
Our school attracts high-calibre teachers, including Oxford and Cambridge graduates, and is qualified to offer teacher training via the Independent Schools Teacher Induction Panel (IStip) to suitably qualified candidates.
The school is regularly inspected for compliance with British school system standards that apply to independent schools in England under the UK’s Department for Education regulations.
The British School of Bucharest is a member of the British Council`s Addvantage Programme that allows our students to take Cambridge English exams such as the Key English Test or the Preliminary English Test.
The British School of Bucharest has become one of the first certified COBIS Training Schools. This is in recognition of the calibre and diversity of our approach to CPD and professional learning which also incorporates support for initial Teacher and Newly Qualified Teacher Training. As the only school from Eastern Europe to receive this certification, we are honoured to be part of this COBIS project alongside 10 other leading COBIS international schools.
Key Stage 4 (GCSE/IGCSE) and Key Stage 5 (A level) students follow programmes of study and take final examinations set by the EDEXCEL or Cambridge Assessment International Education awarding bodies.
