BSB Campus & Facilities
The British School of Bucharest prides itself on having created one of the best international school academic environments. Every student is cared for, respected, treated equally and has access to all the facilities and resources needed for a premium Education.
The campus is located north of Bucharest and extends over a splendid area of over 2 hectares, where trees and flowers surround the school buildings and the sports fields.
Our commitment to providing an excellent education environment can be clearly seen once you take a BSB campus tour and facilities tour*.
The British School of Bucharest is located to the north of the capital. It occupies a spacious 2.2-hectare site with world-class academic and sporting facilities, purpose-built to support our belief that ecological sustainability and environmental protection are essential in creating an excellent educational campus atmosphere.
The British School of Bucharest has three main buildings; the EYFS and Key Stage 1 centre are placed in the rear of the campus, while the Primary School and the Secondary School buildings are in front of the campus. All our buildings are specially designed to create stimulating conditions for learners, with a range of classroom styles providing an exciting variety of learning environments.
This exceptional environment is home to state of the art educational, sporting and artistic facilities. We continue to invest in the latest technology, where appropriate, to bring real-life learning experiences and opportunities for personal growth. Key concepts are presented in ways that enable visual, auditory and kinaesthetic learners to grasp them.
The BSB campus provides our students with a broad spectrum of activity choices both in and outside the classroom, including approximately 200 co-curricular activities through our After-school Club Programme to support the extensive British curriculum.
Our campus security is robust, ensuring a safe and peaceful space for our students to enjoy. We keep our school very clean and maintained to excellent standards. It is a place where children see and understand the value of responsibility and care.
Over the years, we have made substantial investments in the campus facilities, including an outdoor swimming pool, an indoor multi-purpose sports dome, four indoor sports areas and many outdoor play areas. Including Ringwood Kingdom for our pupils from EYFS, Year 1 and Year 2, and our Science Garden is the perfect place to discover and explore nature and its beauty.
In addition, the British School of Bucharest provides distinct areas such as music rooms, fully equipped laboratories, two vast libraries, a drama studio, and a state-of-the-art Food Technology Studio complete with its own dining area and six fully fitted kitchens with adjustable-height work surfaces.
Our school facilities provide fantastic opportunities for learning beyond the four walls of the classroom without needing to leave the campus. Our continuous focus on the benefits of outdoor learning can be seen through our use of the 'Re-Wilding Zone', vegetable garden, school pond and science garden.
Innovation Hub – This is a dedicated platform for our unique approach to STEAM subjects. Established in 2016, the Innovation Hub has now evolved to offer both a beginner’s alternative for new pupils and an advanced course for older members. It promotes innovation in school by bringing together Design and Technology, Mathematics, Physics and other disciplines from classroom learning into a practical, hands-on course.
The school libraries are an integral and vital part of our overall programme, and they support pupils with their development into successful and confident learners. We have excellent library facilities for the British School of Bucharest’s pupils, with both the Primary Library (The Newlands Library) and the Secondary Library (The Crawford House Library) serving as resource centres for pupils and staff, encouraging the pursuit of individual interests and tastes. A qualified librarian oversees the libraries.
The Newlands Library
Each class from Pre-Nursery to Key Stage 3 visits the library weekly to acquire library skills, discuss their reading choices, enjoy storytime or borrow books. Throughout Primary, we teach library skills lessons to help children to use the library independently.
The Crawford House Library
The library in the Secondary School is a focal point of learning for all students. Secondary students have open access to the library during the school day to select reading material from a wide and varied selection of books, journals, magazines, or source reference material for research, essays, and projects. Students can find non-fiction on various interesting topics and a continually updated collection of books for children and young adults.
The British School of Bucharest offers exciting activities for students on campus, but we also take them ‘off-site’ to enjoy thrilling experiences in Bucharest and further afield. A teacher and a Teaching Assistant always accompany our children, and we always provide safe transport.
Parents seeking a premium education in Romania for their children are welcome to visit the BSB campus and observe our school at work so that they can witness the authentic experience of the British School of Bucharest.
